Netflix’s Sabrina series has started production in Vancouver, Canada, which is also where The CW’s Riverdale, another Archie Comics series, films. But despite the two shows filming in the same city and coming from the same producers, don’t expect any crossovers, for now.
Jon Goldwater, who is the CEO of Archie Comics and an executive producer on both shows, recently spoke with TV Line about the chances of crossovers. But unfortunately, there are no plans to cross the two Archie properties over as Goldwater describes Sabrina being its own “entity.” However, that doesn’t mean he isn’t open to the idea down the line, if the logistics can be worked out.
“Right now, we’re not thinking about that. They’re two separate entities for right now. [I] would love it if they could figure out a way to cross over. Going forward? You never know. Maybe.”
The world of Riverdale on The CW has so far not demonstrated any supernatural elements that would hint that the Spellmans are around. However, they have made it a point to reference Greendale more than ever in Season 2 which is where Sabrina and her aunts live. Do you think the two shows should crossover? Let us know in the comments below!
“UNTITLED SABRINA SERIES imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.”
Netflix’s untitled Sabrina series, starring Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker, Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardell/Madam Satan, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman, Miranda Otto as Zelda Spellman, and Ross Lynch as Harvey Kinkle, is set to premiere sometime in 2018.
