You can’t do a Sabrina series without her famous two aunts! Deadline broke the news today that Wonder Woman’s Lucy Davis has been tapped for one of the iconic Spellman women as Aunt Hilda. Davis, who portrayed Etta Candy in Patty Jenkins’ DC picture, will portray the witty aunt who was previously played by Caroline Rhea in the ’90s sitcom.
This version of Hilda will both have similarities and new layers than the previous version. Warner Bros. TV and Netflix describe this version of Aunt Hilda as follows:
“Hilda Spellman, one of Sabrina’s two witch aunts. More nurturing than Zelda, Hilda’s motherly nature and warm sense of humor belie a wicked, ghoulish streak. She is as adept at brewing spite jars against her family’s enemies as she is at concocting love potions for the students at Baxter High.”
With Hilda now cast, it is only a matter of time until her sister Zelda gets cast as well. Harvey Kinkle is also joining the series and should be revealed pretty soon as production starts next month in Vancouver, Canada. Rhea showed support for Davis’ casting on Twitter today in the following tweet as she congratulated the actress.

Netflix’s untitled Sabrina series, starring Kiernan Shipka as Sabrina Spellman, Jaz Sinclair as Rosalind Walker, Michelle Gomez as Mary Wardell/Madam Satan, Chance Perdomo as Ambrose Spellman, and Lucy Davis as Hilda Spellman, is set to premiere sometime in 2018.
